Daniel is a young midfielder who returned to his native country in July 2010 after a three-year spell with West Ham United in England. Before joining the London club in July 2007, Kearns was the Player of the Tournament at the prestigious Ballymena International Tournament the previous April.

The Belfast youngster quickly settled into life at the West Ham Academy despite making the switch to England when still only 15. He soon became a regular fixture in the U18 setup, showing himself to be a creative provider with an eye for goal.

Kearns also continued to represent his country and was chosen to represent Northern Ireland in a vital series of European U17 Championship qualifiers in March 2008. However, he switched to the Republic of Ireland earlier this year and has represented his country at U19 level.

In May 2010 Daniel was released by West Ham and almost three months later he put pen to paper on a short-term deal with Dundalk. He made 12 league appearances between his debut in September and the end of the 2010 season. He started 2011 in dramatic fashion hitting a hat-trick against Linfield in the Setanta Cup on St Valentine's day and he went on to score four times in 25 league appearances before getting an offer to go back to England. On 30 August 2011 Daniel signed a three year deal with Peterborough United where he made his debut on 24 September against West Ham.

On 4th October 2012 Daniel went on loan to York City and made 9 league appearances before being recalled to Peterborough on 29 November. In 2013 he was away on loan again, signing for Rotherham United on 9th January, making 10 league appearances for his club during his short stay there until the end of the 2012/13 season.

Daniel started off 2013/14 with Peterborough United, making 11 League One appearances for the club, before going out on loan to League Two side Chesterfield. A further 10 league appearances were added to his name. He stayed in League Two for the 2014/15 season when he signed for Carlisle United on a two-year deal. He made twelve appearances in all competitions for Carlisle before he was released early form his contract in September 2015.

Daniel returned to Northern Ireland in October 2015 when he signed for Glenavon. He made eighteen appearances in the league and the final round of matches, scoring five goals in the process, as the club finished third. He also won the Irish Cup during his season there. But in July 2016, Daniel returned to League of Ireland football when he signed for Dave Roberton's Sligo Rovers on a one-and-a-half year deal.

Daniel's first game for Sligo was against St Patrick's Athletic on 9 July 2016 an he scored twice in 14 league appearances as the Bit o' Red finished fifth in the Premier Division table. Daniel left Sligo at the end of the 2017 season.

Daniel then signed for Limerick before the start of the 2018 campaign.
