FULL TIME!

The game has ended between St. Patrick's Ath and Shamrock Rovers.

90' + 2'

Substitution

Daryl Kavanagh replaces Chris Forrester for St. Patrick's Ath.

90' + 1'

Yellow Card

Chris Forrester is booked for St. Patrick's Ath.

89'

The game is slowly fading towards a Pats win as neither side can create a chance at the moment. Rovers look unable to conjure up a last bit of energy to create a goal scoring opportunity

85'

The game has become very stop-start the last few minutes because of various injuries and substitutions. Rovers are looking unlikely to score at the minute as Pats try to pushfor a second goal with their one-man advantage. just as I type this Chris Forrester hits a shot on the half volley that goes just narrowly wide

83'

Substitution

Rob Cornwall replaces Sean O'Connor for Shamrock Rovers.

81'

Substitution

Lee Lynch replaces Killian Brennan for St. Patrick's Ath.

76'

Liam Buclkey will be very happy with Sean Hoare who has looked like an established first team player all night. A very good performance so far from the young man

74'

Yellow Card

Christy Fagan is booked for St. Patrick's Ath.

73'

Substitution

Shane Robinson replaces Gary McCabe for Shamrock Rovers.

71'

A rare shot from Rovers as McCabe picks up the ball 25 yards out, turns on it and hits it with his left. Brendan Clarke was behind it all the way

68'

Pats are in complete control now as Conan Byrne and Chris Forrester both go close in quick succession. Barry Murphy's goal is coming under intense pressure at the moment

66'

Substitution

Kieran 'Marty' Waters replaces Ronan Finn for Shamrock Rovers.

63'

A fantastic chance missed by Conan Byrne . He dropped his shoulder to beat two Rovers defenders before striking the ball with his left but it was well saved by Barry Murphy in the Hoops goal

61'

Pats have enjoyed a good period of possession for the last five minutes, knocking the ball around with ease. keith Fahey is now becoming instrumental in this match as he dictates the tempo of the game

59'

Yellow Card

Conor McCormack is booked for St. Patrick's Ath.

54'

Superb effort from Killian Brennan who took a free kick from the far right, curling the ball with pace but Barry Murphy got his finger tips to it to turn it over the bar

52'

McCabe almost weaved his way through the Pats defence following a neat one-two with Ronan Finn but Brendan Clarke came off his line quickly to clear the ball out of the stadium

50'

Forgot to mention that Sean O'Connor is now deputising at left back for Rovers

48'

Rovers have started the second half with a slightly different formation due to the red card. They are now playing a flat 4-4-1 as they look to keep things tight and hope to nick a goa on the counter as Pats are almost certain to dominate possession this half

46'

Second Half

The second half between St. Patrick's Ath and Shamrock Rovers has started.

46'

Yellow Card

Barry Murphy is booked for Shamrock Rovers.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between St. Patrick's Ath and Shamrock Rovers. Pats lead 1-0 at half time. The half ended in controvesy as referee Dave Mckeon made the decision to send off Luke Byrne and award a penalty to Pats. This 'Triple punishment rule' will undoubtedly be discussed up and down the country by fans. Tripe punishment is when the referee awards a penalty, sends off the offending player and the resulting penalty is then scored. However, Pats have been the better side and deservedly lead

45'

Yellow Card

Ciaran Kilduff is booked for Shamrock Rovers.

45'

PENALTY SCORED!

Killian Brennan scores for St. Patrick's Ath from the penalty spot. Luke Byrne brought down Conan Byrne who was about to pull the trigger. Straight red given and Brennan scored the resulting penalty

44'

Red Card

Luke Byrne is sent off for Shamrock Rovers.

42'

Better from Rovers as Kilduff beats Conor McCormack, passes it to McCabe who displays great awareness by helping it on first time to Simon Madden who came onto the ball first time striking well over

40'

Conor Kenna is down injured for Rovers as jeers and unsatisfactory songs about him ring throughout the stadium

38'

Pats have started to gain control of the game having more possession in the last 10 minutes and created a few chances. Rovers are struggling to hold onto the ball for any signficant period of time and are not creating chances.

33'

Terrific skill from Chris Forrester to manouver his way into the box before setting up James Chambers who blasted over from just inside the box. Fantastic play from Chris Forrester

31'

Killian Brennan strikes the crossbar from a free kick that was intended as a cross. The closest both sides have come so far

30'

Yellow Card

Ronan Finn is booked for Shamrock Rovers.

23'

Stephen McPhail crossed in a good free kick which found it's way to the former Saints captain, Conor Kenna, but he could only find the side netting. A decent chance missed by Rovers

21'

The atmosphere is electric here in Richmond Park. Great support from both clubs. With such a good atmosphere it adds tension and that has certainly transmitted intself onto the pitch in the early stages so far as both sides have started with an extremely high tempo but have given the ball away far too easily as a result. both sides will be looking to their key players to slow the game down and get a foot hold

19'

Good play between Roan Finn and Simon Madden before Finn whipped in a very dangerous cross into the six yard box but Ciaran  Kilduff failed to get onto the end of it

16'

Substitution

James Chambers replaces Greg Bolger for St. Patrick's Ath. Bolger got injured in a collision that resluted in the yellow card for Stephen McPhail

15'

Pats will be lookiing for a victory tonight that will kick start their season, while Rovers will be looking for a first league win in Inchicore since 2010 when they won 3-1

13'

Yellow Card

Stephen McPhail is booked for Shamrock Rovers.

12'

Apologies for the lack of updates my internet connection was down. Fortunately though, there has been no action to report on with not a single shot on goal yet. Rovers have had slightly more possession but other than that there is nothing between the two teams in the opening 12 minutes

GAME ON!

The game between St. Patrick's Ath and Shamrock Rovers has kicked off.

0'

Prior to losing 4-1 to Dundalk in their last home outing, Pats hadn't conceded four league goals at Richmond Park since 2003 when they lost 4-2 to Bohemians. Pats have conceded 9 goals already this season which is in stark contrast to last season when they only conceded 20 goals all season.

Hi everyone, my name is Cormac Kennedy and I will be providing updates for tonight's big SSE Airtricity League game between St Pats and Shamrock Rovers. The teams are in. Promising young defender, Sean Hoare starts for Pats while Conor McCormack deputises for the injured Saints captain Ger O'Brien. Rovers are unchanced from their starting eleven that beat UCD 2-0 on monday night
