Bohemians locked horns with Derry City on a bitterly cold Tuesday night at Dalymount Park which ended in a 1-0 win for the away side.
The Gypsies came into the game unbeaten while bottom-of-the-table Derry City were looking to secure their first points of the new campaign.
In conditions that can only be described as absolutely Baltic, it was Derry who ran out winners in a fairly even game throughout.
Ronan Curtis grabbed the only goal of the game on 60 minutes after he found himself unmarked on the edge of the six yard box. His low shot rifled by Shane Supple in the Bohs goal to give the visitors their first points of the season.
After a fairly scrappy start to the game that was played in testing conditions due to the snowy weather in Dublin, it was Derry who carved open the first real chance of the game on 27 minutes.
Aaron McEnuff found the ball just inside the Bohs half and measured an exquisite through ball into the path of Ronan Curtis who’s shot was saved smartly at the feet of Supple.
Bohs responded with a great chance of their own when Paddy Kavanagh controlled a sublime ball from the air and, on the half-turn, bent a ball around the Derry centre-halves into the onrushing Eoghan Stokes. Again, it was the keepers who were coming out on top and Doherty made a save from 12 yards out.
Into the second half and Bohs started the brighter, although it was Derry who opened the scoring on the hour mark through Curtis, who worked his socks off all night.
Bohs tried to get back into the game but didn't create many chances, with substitute JJ Lunney having the best of a bad bunch of ambitious strikes from 25 yards out.
Bohs would be rewarded on 85 minutes when Conor McDermott was deemed to have fouled Kevin Devaney in the penalty area for a last chance for the home side.
Eoghan Stokes, who grabbed a late equaliser in Limerick last Saturday, was unable to do the same here and his tame effort was saved low to his left by Gerard Doherty.
Despite Bohs pushing on to grab a late equaliser, Derry could have doubled their lead with the last kick of the game as a bursting run down the left from Ben Doherty rattled the Bohemians crossbar, before the final whistle sounded.
Kenny Shiels will be delighted his side picked up their first points of the season ahead of the re-opening of the Brandywell vs Dundalk on Friday.
It's back to the drawing board for Keith Long and Bohs who travel to the champions Cork City on Friday evening.
