League Preview: Limerick -v- Longford Town

- Mon, Aug 17 2015
Bottom side Limerick face Longford Town in what is another crucial game, with Longford Town in danger of getting dragged into the relegation dogfight. Kick-off at the Markets Field is 7.45pm, with the Garryowen venue expected to house a large crowd.
LIMERICK
The Super Blues will look to continue their fine form and make it four consecutive victories having shocked Cork City with a fantastic display of confidence at Turners Cross on Friday night.
The form of Vinny Faherty and winger Dean Clarke has seen Limerick more productive in front of goal. The influence of Lee Lynch, who was Extratime.ie Man of the Match on Friday, has also been vitally important to Martin Russell’s men.
Russell will have the option to recall both Patrick Kanyuka and Shaun Kelly, but it seems more feasible that teenager and match winner Paudie O’Connor will continue at the heart of the defence.
The hosts have no fresh injury concerns, though fatigue may be an issue, with his side having featured in three exhilarating ties in recent weeks.
LONGFORD TOWN
Longford enter this game in mid-table, but their poor run of form since the mid-season break has seen them take five points from twenty-four as suspensions and injures have hindered their progress.
Town did beat Limerick when the sides last met, though the clubs couldn’t be separated at Jackman Park back in March. Longford have the poorest run of form in the Division at present while goals have been hard to come by for attacking duo David O’Sullivan and Gary Shaw.
With this poor run of form, Tony Cousins will be hoping his side can turn their form around. A slow start on Friday cost them against Shamrock Rovers, something Cousins will be hoping to sort against Limerick, who started with such confidence last Friday.
