Shelbourne FC confirmed today that the contract of midfielder John Sullivan has been cancelled by mutual consent. Sullivan joined the club at the start of last season, but made only six appearances in the 2012 season.

The midfielder was integral to Shelbourne's promotion-winning season last year, stepping in when an injury ruled captain David McGill out for most of the second half of the season. He also played in a number of the FAI Cup matches which ended in Shels losing out on penalties to Sligo Rovers in the final -  a match Sullivan started.

A statement from Shels thanked the former Limerick player for his time at the club and wished him "every success in the future".
