Aaron Callaghan’s Gypsies welcome Derry City to Dalymount Park on Friday where they will be hoping to get their second home win of the season.
Bohemians are currently ninth in the table having picked up eleven points this season. In their first meeting of the season, the Dublin side fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Declan Devine’s men.
Captain Owen Heary and goalkeeper Andy McNulty are still out due to hamstring injuries and will be missing until after the mid-season break. Neil Harney returned to training this week but is a doubt for the clash.
Striker Dinny Corcoran is also a doubt having picked up a groin injury. Luke Byrne is definitely missing as he is graduating from school and a number of the college students have not been training due to exams.
Manager Aaron Callaghan is happy with how the team has settled down: “We’re much more settled. I have my mind made up on twenty players who can play in the first team.”
He is confident that his side can put it up to teams at the top: “We’re also more optimistic now because the boys have taken on board what we’re trying to do. We can go and compete with Derry and Sligo and give them a proper game. But even in the first round, we only lost those games by a single goal, and against Derry that was with a man sent off.”
DERRY CITY
Derry City are currently sixth in the table and bounced back from their Setanta Cup final disappointment to beat Monaghan United 4-1 on Tuesday evening.
That victory over Roddy Collins’ Monaghan United means that Derry have climbed above Cork City and Bray Wanderers in the table.
The Foylesiders will still be without Stewart Greacen and Kevin Deery who are both suffering from knee injuries. Mark Farren and Barry Molloy are both missing through hamstring injuries.
Ahead of the game, manager Declan Devine is wary of the threat that Bohs pose: “We have seen out the start to the campaign missing the likes of Stewart Greacen and Kevin Deery and now we add Barry Molloy to that list. We know that as we head down to Dalymount on Friday we will be in for a tough game as it was in the Brandywell.”
