Sligo have weathered a recent dip in form and have recorded two victories from their last two outings, a sequence of results that have repositioned them back among the League of Ireland elite.

United however can't buy a win, not withstanding the financial tribulations that the club are suffering. Without registering any points since the 18th of March, and having conceded more times than anyone else in the division, Sean Connor could be forgiven for underestimating, at the beginning of the season, the tough job he now has on his hands.

Although Rovers have played one more game than title rivals Derry City and Shamrock Rovers the club’s supporters will have welcomed the recent run of positive results. But Gerry Carr explains that nether panic nor over excitement were entertained at the Showgrounds.

"We did not go over the top when we lost a couple of games and we won't do it now when we are doing better." The Rovers assistant boss said.

The Bit O' Red go into tomorrow evenings encounter with a full compliment of players once again but complacency is suppressed in favour of competitive concentration. Carr continued, "It is of great credit to everyone at the club that we are up near the top of the table and we will try to continue that with a result against Galway. They've had a tough run but they always give us a hard game and we will be anticipating that on Saturday."

Sean Connor must be praying for the nadir of his sides season to pass soon as he looks to register some much needed Airtricity points. Injuries have confounded Galway’s efforts at a revival in recent weeks and will hamper their aspirations of an upset at the Showgrounds on Saturday evening also.

Shaun Maher, Gary Curran, Alan Murphy, and Joseph Yoffe were all missing for the visitors last time out and remain serious doubts going into this all Connaught encounter.

Connor can count however on honesty of effort from his makeshift squad and there have been improvements in the performance of the Tribesmen. Poor mistakes have cost United dearly however, an aspect of their recent performances that Connor rues, "We are in a difficult situation, but the morale is very good. The attitude of the players in training is fantastic, we just need to stop making mistakes and gifting teams leads which makes life easier for them.”
