Galway will be attempting to further distance themselves from the relegation places and propel themselves into the middle of the table. As things stand the Galway outfit sit on five points, three above bottom spot, but only two behind St Patrick’s Athletic who sit on the cusp of mid table in sixth.

Derry, having beaten Dundalk last week, will be trying to maintain the pressure on the top two, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers, and could conceivably go top if the those teams were to drop points. The Candystripes are currently two points short of the leaders.

Galway boss Sean Connor has seen the crowds gradually get bigger at Terryland Park and he will be anxious to repay that support with the club’s first home win of the season. However, he will have to work without some notable absentees. Gary Curran is still out after he broke his metatarsal against UCD some weeks ago and both Alan Murphy and Steve Feeney are doubtful with groin and ankle issues respectively.

However, after a promising performance against Drogheda last time out, Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Dusi may be in line for a starting berth against the northerners.

Derry will see a win in Terryland Park as crucial for their momentum at the top end of the table but they may be without some key figures. Barry Molloy and Rauiri Harkin are the concerns for Stephen Kenny who will be acutely aware of the need to keep up the pressure on Shamrock and Sligo Rovers.

"The challenge now is the level of consistency”, he stated after last weekend comprehensive win against Dundalk at the Brandywell.
