Galway United -v- Sligo Rovers

Galway United welcome Sligo Rovers to Terryland Park on Friday evening in an all Connaught Premier Division clash.

The hosts will be in buoyant mood following their 1-0 victory against perennial heavyweights Bohemians but will be acutely aware of the progress Sligo Rovers have made in the past two seasons. Sligo for their part will be looking to build on their seven points accumulated thus far in the Airtricity League.

Rovers last outing in the Premier Division saw them dismantle Drogheda in much the same vein they had so often done in last year’s campaign with some of the best football in the league. A return to such enterprising play will be sought again this week as they look to continue competing at the business end of the league.

Without any suspension worries the visitors will be confident of being able to defeat Sean Connor's side who have yet to force their undoubted potential on the league standings.

Galway too will be looking to build on a good performance in their last outing, defeating Bohs 1-0 in Dublin. Connor will be glad to see his charges finally open their scoring account against Bohemians but will be aware of the 'smash & grab' manner of the victory. Joseph Yoffe was the hero last week, and it looks as if Connor will put faith in the former American and Spanish league player again this week up front.

Sligo will give a late fitness test to Joseph Ndo, as the former Cameroon international is still recovering from deep bruising in his knee. Rovers seemed to have found their form in last week’s fixture and will look to continue their effort at resurrecting last year’s form.

Galway will persevere without former Sligo Rovers player Steve Feeney who suffered an injury against UCD forcing him out for the next four weekends at least. Midfielder Gary Curran will not face his former club after suffering a broken metatarsal against Cockhill Celtic which will sideline him for an estimated six weeks. Sean Kelly is back from suspension however as the the Tribesmen will look to build some positive home form.
