Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Waterford

90' + 3'

Dundalk almost conceded in the last minute but survived the scare to rattle in a second goal in their next attack and kill off the game. In truth, they dominated the play but Alan Reynolds' men were in the contest throughout and almost sneaked a point out the gate.

Not to be however and the Lilywhites march on in their quest to wrestle the league title back from Cork City. Niall Newberry's excellent report will be online shortly but from me, Tom O'Connor, it's oíche mhaith from Oriel Park and thanks for joining us on extratime.ie tonight.

90' + 3'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Dundalk and Waterford.

90' + 1'

MIchael Duffy had a breakaway attack down the left after Waterford almost equalised. He squared it to the unmarked Tagbajumi who rolled the effort into the unguarded net. A second assist of the night for Duffy.

90' + 1'

GOAL!

Marco Tagbajumi scores for Dundalk.

90'

POST!

Puri with a low drive which cannons off the upright.

85'

Shields again heavily involved as he slides to block Kasmi's effort. Dundalk fail to clear the corner however and it's a free kick 35 yards out which Kasmi fails to beat the first defender with.

81'

Chris Shields has been immense tonight, for all the talk about Bastien Héry- who undoubtedly is a class act- it's been the former Bray Wanderers midfielder who has shone tonight.

77'

The repositioned former St Pat's man is causing problems early on as he collides with Rogers but a goal kick is awarded. Heart in mouth stuff at Oriel Park.

75'

That Waterford switch has seen Daly go to left back with Barnett to right back with Feely joining Akinade in attack.

74'

Substitution

Derek Daly replaces John Martin for Waterford.

73'

Yellow Card

Marco Tagbajumi is booked for Dundalk.

71'

Kasmi with a wicked cross from a free kick and Feely just didn't get enough on the header and it drifted wide.

70'

Substitution

Marco Tagbajumi replaces Pat Hoban for Dundalk.

67'

Yellow Card

Chris Shields is booked for Dundalk.

67'

For those of you wondering, Puri is left side of a narrow midifled 4 while Adorján has pushed McGrath to the right wing.

66'

Substitution

Krisztian Adorjan replaces Dylan Connolly for Dundalk.

64'

2041 here tonight. Decent crowd for a Monday night.

63'

Yellow Card

Rory Feely is booked for Waterford.

58'

Substitution

Faysel Kasmi replaces Dean O'Halloran for Waterford.

55'

Holohan with a long range effort which sails harmlessly over the crossbar after good tracking back by Akinade. Waterford are not going to sit back here.

53'

Feely and Barnett both showing the value of attacking full backs as they swing in a couple of dangerous crosses which Dundalk scramble clear.

Much better from Waterford so far this half.

47'

Jamie McGrath skips through midfield, picks out a galloping Dylan Connolly whose soft pass found Hoban. Unfortunately for the home side the ball appeadered to bobble and Hoban skied it.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Dundalk and Waterford has started.

46'

Substitution

Dean Jarvis replaces Dane Massey for Dundalk.

45' + 3'

A very good half of football which saw the wingless wonders of Waterford contain Dundalk centrally, for the most part. However, on the one occasion which Chris Shields saw a gap he exploited it to assist Benson's goal. Keegan's injury enforced departure played its part too as the former Doncaster Rovers player had stationed himself at the base of the diamond before his substitution.

An interesting second half is in prospect here as Waterford aim to become the first Irish team to defeat Dundalk in a game in which Robbie Benson has netted for the Lilywhites.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Dundalk and Waterford.

43'

Holohan with a long range zinger which Rogers had to push around the post. Waterford put the ball in the net from the subsequent corner but it's ruled out for a foul on Hoban.

39'

Robbie Benson scored but it owed everything to Chris Shields- he nipped in front of John Martin as Waterford threatened a breakaway and marauded forward before releasing Duffy whose low cutback found the onrushing Benson's left foot which thumped the ball into the top corner.

39'

GOAL!

Robbie Benson scores for Dundalk.

34'

Substitution

Sander Puri replaces Paul Keegan for Waterford.

32'

Break in play as Keegan is down. It gives me time to introduce myself (half an hour late!) as Tom O'Connor (@boscoisalive).

Keegan is to play no further part tonight.

31'

Vigouroux must have been watching Rory Beggan in action for Monaghan yesterday- his distribution is just top class!

24'

Total football from Dundalk here as centre forward Hoban crosses from the right wing to find centre back Gartland in the penalty area!

SAVE!

Fingertips from Vigouroux to flick a Duffy piledriver over the bar and then punches the corner clear! Great goalkeeping.

19'

End to end stuff here as Shields fizzes in a shot which is straight at Vigouroux before the away side have a tame John Martin effort which is easily saved by Rogers.

14'

Energised by Friday's showing, Seán Hoare swung over a lovely cross which the stretching Jamie McGrath could only head over the bar.

Energised by Friday's showing, Seán Hoare swung over a lovely cross which the stretching Jamie McGrath could only head over the bar.

10'

Duffy somehow found himself in space in the Waterford area, rolled it back to Benson who lashed his effort over the bar from the edge of the area.

6'

Great save from Vigouroux to push Cleary's header, from a Michael Duffy free kick, around the post.

4'

Palpable excitement here every time Michael Duffy gets on the ball. He'd an early free kick blocked by the wall after Martin fouled Shields.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Dundalk and Waterford has kicked off.

0'

The team news is in and Dundalk are unchanged from the side that defeated Bohemains 2-0 at Dalymount Park on Friday night - Waterford make two changes from their shock 6-3 defeat against Limerick with Stanley Aborah (suspended) and Courtney Duffus making way for Paul Keegan and Dean O'Halloran.

Hello and you're very welcome to Oriel Park for live updates of this SSE Airtricity League Premier Division clash between top-of-the-table Dundalk and third-place Waterford.
