FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Shamrock Rovers and Cork City and they will start the second leg on level terms.

90' + 2'

What a chance for Rovers to clinch a late win. Tommy Dunne was gesticulating furiously at his players to get forward and not drop back, but Rovers advanced and found Sheppard on the left of the City area. He cut the ball across the goalmouth and, at full stretch, Kilduff got a slight touch but not enough to steer the ball to the right side of the back post.

90'

There will be three added minutes played.

90'

Substitution

Denis Behan replaces Daryl Kavanagh for Cork City.

86'

Rovers seem mor keen to win this now. City look happy to run a bit of time down. Some concerted pressure from Rovers has got the crowd's blood up. A ball from the left was met by Dunleavy and the City player seemed to stumble on the ball. There were loud calls for handball and a penalty, echoed seconds later when he scooped the ball away from Kilduff and the Rovers striker hit the deck.

81'

John Dunleavy is outraged to be caled for a foul on Klduff who appeared to be backing into the Cork midfielder. A card was subsequently flashed but I think it was to Colin Healy for his protests. Chambers drove the free kick on target but McNulty, again, gathered with relative ease.

81'

Yellow Card

Colin Healy is booked for Cork City.

78'

A lovely ball from Finn, hit on the half-volley, that releases Chambers down the right. He laid it off to substitte Gary McCabe who's cross is easily gathered by McNulty.

75'

Bit of an odd one there as Derek Foran is penalised for a handball when there was no-one around him and he was fielding a fairly simple ball. City made nothing of the opportunity though and Rovers broke up the other end, forcing a corner when Kilduff was crowded out and his shot was deflected wide.

75'

Substitution

Adam Rundle replaces Daryl Horgan for Cork City.

74'

Substitution

Gary McCabe replaces Sean O'Connor for Shamrock Rovers.

73'

Substitution

Danny Morrissey replaces Danny Furlong for Cork City.

70'

Stephen Rice has gonne to right back and Pat Sullivan has moved inside to partner Foran in the centre, following Ken Oman's withdrawal.

68'

Substitution

Stephen Rice replaces Ken Oman for Shamrock Rovers.

67'

That was a great interception by Derek Foran ust as Cork threatened to break. Then, finding himself in space and with the balla t his feet the big man thrashed a shot right and wide of the City goal.

66'

Rovers sub Karl Sheppard lets fly from twent yards and his shot takes a deflection. McNulty gathers it well.

64'

There's a delay here as two Rovers players receive treatment. Ken Oman is the one who looks in trouble but he finally picks himself up and play eventually resumes.

62'

Substitution

Karl Sheppard replaces Mark Quigley for Shamrock Rovers.

60'

With an hour gone there are signs that this game might be livening up. Some lovely interplay between Finn and Ledwith brightened up proceedings if not creating anything tangible. And daryl Kavanagh continues to look lively for City.

57'

Colin Healy swings a free kick into the Rovers box and it looked liek a Rovers head that got a nick on it before the ball slid inches wide of the back post. Referee Doyle thought so too and awarded a corner, to which Ken Oman protested vehemently.

55'

City are playing better in this second half. There seems to be a little bit more spark about them and a great turn in the middle of the park showd that Daryl Kavanagh still has a the potential to create a bit of drama.

49'

There is a sense of thethargy about this game. That extra ouce of daring seems to be a step too far for both teams. Daryl Kavanagh showed what a moment of inspiration can do with his goal, but this doesn't feel like the kind of game in which there will be a lot of that.

48'

Sean O'Connor has a go for Rovers but his shot from outside the box is comfortably held by City keeper McNulty.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Shamrock Rovers and Cork City has started.

45' + 1'

Half Time

It is half-time between Shamrock Rovers and Cork City.

45'

There will be one additional minute.

45'

More danger for Rovers as an Ian Turner free finds Furlong who hooks the ball to the back post where it is scrambled away for a corner. But Furlongs delivery is poor and easily cleared.

41'

GOAL!

Daryl Kavanagh scores for Cork City with a long range shot that looped over Barry Murphy and into the Rovers net. Having just gone one down Cork then level with their first genuine attempt on goal.

39'

OWN GOAL!

Neal Horgan cocedes a free kick five yards outside his box when he is adudged to have fouled Mark Quigley. Quigley's free kick is deflected past his own keeper by Danny Murphy.

36'

Neal Horgan gets caught in possession and again it's Darren Dennehy who comes to the rescue, sliding in to dispossess Kilduff who was on his way towards the City goal.

34'

James Chambers picked up on Garry Buckley's poor ball, but heis tame shot was straight at McNulty.

30'

Rovers look more inventive at this point with Finn and Ledwith in particular looking as if they might create something. City are just not connecting with each other. I don't think Furlong and Kavanagh up front have yet found each other with a pass.

28'

Daryl Horgan has a go for City, their first genuine shot at goal, I thnk. But it was waaaay over Murphy's crossbar.

25'

Finn plays Kilduff through with a super pass but an excellent saving tackle from Darren Dennehy saved the day for the visitors.

24'

Promising from City! Dunleavy played the ball down the left for Daryl Horgan but Derek Foran came steaming across to mop up the danger.

21'

Displeasure from the home fans as Conor Powell elects to play the ball backwards. The home fans want to see something more ambitious.

19'

With nearly twenty minutes played I think I can say that this is a very gentle game. Very polite.

17'

Referee Neil Doyle gets in the way of Mark Quigley's attempted pass and the ball breaks for Daryl Kavanagh. He srode forward but his attempt to play Furlong through was thwarted by the sweeping Barry Mutrphy. That would have been embarrassing if a goal had ensued.

13'

A nice chipped ball over the top from Finn almost releases Ciaran Kilduff but McNulty is out swiftly to claim the ball. Shamrock Rovers are warming up, I think. City still haven't really done anything exciting.

11'

And there it is!!!!! Danny Ledwith picks up a weak kick out and hit a fantastic shot from 45 yards that beat the back-pedalling Mark McNulty and only just slipped over the crossbar. No goal but have a cigar young man. Great stuff.

8'

Pat Sullivan tries a very ambitious through ball for Ronan Finn and Darren Dennehy just has to see it out over the endline. It's quiet... too quiet. If this was film noire something extraordinary would now happen....

5'

Ian Turner swings a cross in from the right for City but it flies over the danger area and Daryl Horgan, at the back post, can only watch it drift off towards the left hand touchline. Nothing momentous to report yet.

3'

Both teams are lining out in 4-4-2 formations. Cork have Buckley and Dennehy at centre back with John Dunleavy sitting in beside Colin Healy in central midfield. Mark Quigley is up front with Kilduff for the Hoops.

1'

GAME ON!

City get us started and they will play towards the mountains in the first half.

0'

The teams have come out and we are ust about set to go. This might be the smallest crowd at Tallaght since... tallaght opened?? It's a very modest turn out.

0'

Cork City haven't won away from home since they thwacked Crusaders 3-1 at Seaview in the Setanta Cup. Tommy Dunne makes five changes from the side that lost 2-0 up in Sligo on Saturday. Darren Dennehy, Neal Horgan, Ian Turner, Daryl Kavanagh and Danny Furlng all come in in place of Kalen Spillane, Adam Rundle, Gearoid Morrissey, Shane Duggan and Denis Behan.

0'

Shamrock Rovers haven't been beaten here since Frbruary 11th when Coleraine turned them over 1-0 in the first round of this competition. They are unchanged from their 7-0 demolision of Bray Wanderers last weekend. I haven't checked but with 11 players having scored in league and cup, the Hoops must have one of the widest spreads in the league interms of goal-scoreres.

0'

It's very early in the season for this semi-final craic but Cork City have made the journey to Tallaght to face Shamrock Rovers in this Setanta Cup semi. The sun is beaming down and the gale force winds have abated somewhat. In fact, it all looks rather lovely in the foothills of the Dublin mountains. We have anearlier kick-off tonight with the game starting at 7.30, which is about half an hour from now.
