FULL TIME!

It's all over and Dundalk win 5-1. Thats why we love this game. An incredible evening at Oriel as the champions elect were torn to pieces by a team that were in free fall until last week. Good luck to one and all.

91'
A Liam Burns back header nearly slips past Cherrie.

87'
Panic in the Dundalk back line as a Garry Breen clearance is sliced. Peter Cherrie comes to collect, drops it, and Thomas Stewart's effort is blocked wide.

87'

Substitution

Dundalk Sub - Mathew Tipton is withdrawn to a standing ovation to be replaced by Steven Lennon.

85'

Yellow Card

Shaun Kelly wastes no time. He has been on the pitch for about three minutes... and he's been booked.

82'

GOAL!

Well thats a hat trick for the Welshman. A Wayne Hatswell long ball was touched on and Tipton had all the time and room he could have wished for to draw Mannus and chip the ball over him and into the net.

82'

Substitution

Dundalk Sub - Shaun Kelly replaces Daniel Kearns.

80'
Dundalk are running on empty here but in fainess to both teams they've provided a great spectacle. It would have been easy for Rovers to throw in the towel but they've given it a real go.

75'
Alan Mannus has just been blown up for picking up a backpass! The free was tapped to Ross Gaynor 12 yards out who drilled it through the wall but Mannus not only saved but held the ball.

70'
Chambers just hit an absolutely rasping half volley from about 20 yards. Peter Cherrie tipped over at full stretch. The resulting corner ended at Thomas Stewart's feet 2 yards out but it was blocked away.

66'
The introduction of the ex Louth boys James Chambers and Chris Turner has given Rovers a foothold in midfield. Can they exploit this new found possession?

64'
Daniel Kearns was just sent through out wide. He crossed to Mathew Tipton who scuffed a shot wide from 12 yards.

62'
The next 10 mins are going to be very interesting. Can Rovers mount a come back??

60'

GOAL!

A long ball is played through by Rovers and Peter Cherrie came to collect. Under absolutely no pressure and missed the ball and Gary Twigg ran on to pass into the empty net. A You tube classic for Peter I'm afraid.

60'

Substitution

Rovers Sub - Neale Fenn is withdrawn and replaced by Thomas Stewart. He was of course politely applauded from the field of play and offered his pick of the comely maidens of the town.

58'
Fenn just Twigg clear into the box, he tried to slide it across cherrie who just got a toe to it and deflected it for a corner. Rovers are starting to play.

55'
I'm not being biased with the updates here lads. When I look down my note pad on the SRFC side there are the two bookings and that is it.

50'
A good show of bravado from the Rovers fans. They are singing merrily away here, a lot of four fingered waves going back in their direction.

46'

Substitution

Rovers make two changes at the break - James Chambers replaces Pat Flynn and Chris Turner comes on for Stephen Bradley.

46'

Second Half

The players are back out and Neale Fenn milked the 'adulation' by trailing out last.

45'

GOAL!

Unreal. It's now 4-0 here. Mathew Tipton on the mark again

45'

Half Time

What can I say? Dundalk lead the league leaders 4-0. Perhaps it's in shock but I'm having as many problems with the laptop as the Hoops are having out on the park. This will be lazarus like if the Tallaght boys can get this one back.

42'
If Rovers have won a first ball let alone a second one so far it has escaped me. Dundalk had better get down to Woodies at half time because Mickey O'Neill is going to blister the walls in the visitors dressing room.

35'

Yellow Card

Tom Miller has just gone into the book for trying a hooked clearance when a challenge came from behind. He was adjuged to have raised his foot.

33'
Rovers are very rattled here. Gary Twigg just lead with the elbow on Garry Breen and, luckily for him, neither the ref nor the linesman saw it. Neale Fenn just bounced the ball off of Hatswells head when he was on the ground and was also lucky to get away with it in front of a rabid main stand.

31'

Yellow Card

Billy Dennehy is Rovers second booking of the night, referee Tom Connolly not appreciating Billy's backchat.

28'

Yellow Card

Rovers defender Craig Sives is booked for a late aerial challenge during a rare Hoops attack.

27'

GOAL!

This is truly incredible! Dean Bennett wins a tackle in midfield, Faz skips forward and crosses to the far post where Wayne Hatswell heads back into the mixer for Matt Tipton to deliver the coup de grace.

24'
Laptop problems here folks apologies for the delay. The champions elect are really struggling to get into the game. Dundalk are running around like men possessed and generally harrying the living daylights out of anything in a lilac shirt.

17'

GOAL!

The unbelievable is happening here. Sustained Dundalk pressure resulted in Dean Bennett getting a free on the inside right slot. He pulled the ball back to the centre spot where Faz controlled and slotted past Mannus.

12'
Frantic stuff so far, Dundalk playing at 100 miles per hour. Rovers have yet to settle.

3'

GOAL!

Tom Miller scores for Dundalk! Ross Gaynor delivered an inswinging free kick to the far post and nobody picked up Miller who headed down and goalward from 12 yards. Mannus got a good hand to it but it squirmed beyond him and into the corner of the net.

Emmet Maloney reporting in at Dundalk. Well the big news here at Oriel is that a certain Neale Fenn will start for the Hoops wearing the no. 11 shirt. There were rumours that it was going to be number 30 with a trim of silver pieces but they have turned out to be scurrilous rumours. Heres hoping that all passes off peacefully tonight without need for dogs etc.

0'
Shaun Kelly finds himself on the bench for the Lilywhites, possibly unluckily as he has been a candidate for player of the year so far. Small enough crowd so far and we have a decent wind blowing from the Carrick Rd end down the ground with a good bit of rain keeping it company.

0'
The teams are just out and as expected Neale is getting a bit of stick. At least he manned up unlike Wayne Rooney.
