Former Bohemians centre half Kevin Feely has confirmed that he has joined English Championship side Charlton Athletic. The 20 year-old spent a week on trial with the club in September, while Everton had also expressed an interest in the player.

However, he confirmed on Twitter that he had completed a move to the London club this week.

Feely played with Bohemians U20 and A Championship sides in 2010 and made his senior debut at home to Portadown in the Setanta Cup in March 2011. He made five league appearances in the 2011 season, but 2012 proved to be a breakthrough year for him. He made 22 appearances in the Airtricity League and he also featured in the Europa League Qualifiers. His solid performances at the heart of the Bohemians defence this season attracted the interest of a number of clubs and has ultimately led to his move cross-channel.

It is not only Bohemians that will miss the services of Feely next season as he also played a prominent role with Athy GAA Senior Football team and was a member of the Kildare team that reached the 2010 Leinster Minor Football final.

He will be hoping to help change Charlton’s fortunes, as they currently sit 15th in the Championship and are only 9 points above the relegation zone.
