Bohemians sign four

Bohemians continue their preparation for the 2013 season with confirmation that Ireland underage internationals Luke Byrne and Michael Baker have agreed deals with the club for next season.

This follows on from the news that Keith Buckley and Dave Scully have also committed themselves to the Gypsies for the 2013 season.

Given the off-field financial troubles at Dalymount Park, Bohs fans would have been encouraged by their mid-table finish this season in Aaron Callaghan’s first year in charge.

This solid league performance was achieved with a relatively young squad containing players such as Byrne (19) Baker (19) and Buckley (20) and the re-signing of these three shows a club with a clear intention of building a team for the future.

Dave Scully is a more seasoned campaigner and has had spells with Carlisle United, Kildare County, Malahide United, Monaghan United and AUL side O’Devaney/Dunard before originally signing for Bohemians in January 2012.

While this announcement is positive for the Phibsborough club, the impressive performances of some of the youngsters at Dalymount has also attracted the attention of other teams. Two of Bohemians hottest properties last season were Kevin Feely and Evan McMillan. With both players out of contract and a number of potential suitors circling, Aaron Callaghan may find it hard to convince these two rising stars that their future lies at Bohs.
