Keane ruled out of Germany game

Robbie Keane has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Germany tomorrow with an Achilles injury but will hopefully be fit for Tuesday’s match against the Faroe Islands, the Football Association of Ireland has said.

Keane missed yesterday's training session after picking up the injury in training on Tuesday following a coming together with Paul McShane.

The captain was expected to be fit for tomorrow, with assistant manager Marco Tardelli saying yesterday that: “It’s just a knock.

"Now, there are no doubts, because I spoke to the doctor. He told me everything is ok.”

The Irish team is expected to be announced later this afternoon.
