Holders to face neighbours in U19 Cup

 

Enda McGuill Cup holders Cork City will face local rivals Cobh Ramblers in the first round of this season’s competition after the draw was made earlier today.

The Leesiders completed the double by also winning the league last season. However, with much change in the squad, they have won just two of their seven  league games so far this term, drawing the other five.

Ramblers on the other hand, promoted from the South Division last season, are third in the league.The opening round features seven games in all, with nine other teams receiving byes.

Dundalk, who Cork defeated at Oriel Park in last season’s final, have a tough game against current Elite League leaders UCD, while Bray face St Patrick’s Athletic and Drogheda United take on Shamrock Rovers in the other picks of the round.

The draw in full is: Bray Wanderers v St Patrick Athletic; GUST v Limerick FC; Letterkenny Rovers v Derry City; Dundalk v UCD; Cobh Ramblers v Cork City; Finn Harps v Sligo Rovers; Drogheda United v Shamrock Rovers. Byes: Waterford United, Shelbourne, Salthill Devon, Bohemians, Fanad United, Athlone Town, Mervue United, Wexford Youths, Longford Town.
