Derry to face Shels in cup semi-final

St Patrick's Athletic will face Dundalk in the FAI Cup semi-finals after defeating Drogheda United on penalties at Hunky Dorys Park on Monday night.

League cup specialists Derry City, meanwhile, will welcome Shelbourne, who defeated Shamrock Rovers in the quarter-finals.

The Candystripes last won the cup in 2006, and although their league season has been a mixed bag, home advantage will make them favourites against Alan Mathews' outfit.

Shels haven't wont the blue riband of Irish football since the turn of the millenium, though the seven times winners were defeated in last year's final in a penalty shootout against Sligo Rovers.

The FAI have confirmed that both games will be shown live on RTE Two, with one game at 1.45pm and the other at 3.55pm. The exact arrangements will be confirmed after tonight's replay in Drogheda.

In addition, the Association have also confirmed the final takes place on Sunday, November 4 at Aviva Stadium, with a 3.30pm kick-off.
