Lawlor & Hansberry land WNL Awards

WNL Champions Peamount United were the big winners again today as two of their players won the top prizes at the WNL awards ceremony in the Burlington Hotel.

Sara Lawlor was crowned player of the year, while her strike partner Stephanie Roche got the golden boot award. Between them, Lawlor and Roche scored 39 goals this season.

The day’s other individual award for a player went to Emma Hansberry of Castlebar Celtic. The Sligo native was named young player of the year, with her midfield performances impressing judges even as her side finished an underwhelming fifth.

Brother Bernard Twomey, whose name is now synonymous with St. Catherine’s club he helped found 32 years ago, was recognised with a services to football award.

The All Star team year also received their awards at the ceremony, with Peas again the best-represented club. The champions had four players in the team, followed by Raheny and Cork with two players nominated each. Castlebar and Shamrock Rovers both had one player named in the team.
