FINN Harps have agreed terms with three new players as Peter Hutton and Felix Healy continue to build a squad ahead of the new Airtricity League of Ireland season.

Ciaran Greene, Hugh Carlin and Adam Clarke have all agreed to join Harps for the 2012 season. Greene is a former Letterkenny Rovers and Sligo Rovers player who can play in a variety of positions, from centre midfield to anywhere down the left side.

Carlin joins from Dergview and can play anywhere along the backline, while Clarke is a wide left player who previously played with Derry City and Institute.

“It’s good to get a few new faces in,” Harps boss Peter Hutton said of the club’s latest recruitments.

“They’ll hopefully bring something different to what we already have and I’m sure they’ll strengthen the squad with the quality that they each possess.”

Meanwhile, Harps get their pre-season programme properly up and running on Tuesday night when they travel to the Showgrounds to tackle Limavady United (kick-off 7.30).

The aforementioned trio may not feature as their release forms and clearances have yet to be fully processed, but Hutton is looking forward nevertheless to what should be a tough test for his side.

He said: “They’re obviously well into their season so they will have an edge in terms of fitness and match sharpness. It should a good test for our players. These games are all about getting the fitness levels up and getting as sharp as you can before the real stuff starts.

“And while we want to give everybody as much game-time as possible it’s also important that we maintain a competitive edge. Pre season games are important in terms of getting your habits right. The results might not mean very much but I don’t like to lose any game and I hope the players will carry that mentality through pre-season as well.”

Harps will then play Donegal League side Curragh Atheltic in Killygordon on Friday night before travelling to the Brandywell to play Declan Devine’s Derry City on Friday week, February 7. On Sunday, February 19, Harps make the journey to Oriel Park to play Dundalk.
