Fenlon happy to return to winning ways

Bohemians boss Pat Fenlon was pleased to get back to winning ways against Bray Wanderers in the Carlisle Grounds on Tuesday evening and, even though he admitted that they didn't play as well in the second half as they did in the first, he was still satisfied to come away with the three points in the end.

“It was a tale of two halves I suppose. We were very good in the first half, we created I don't how many chances. Six or seven really good chances. We should have been out of sight at half-time. Then in the second half we didn't play as well. We didn't create as many chances. It's a win though. Bray have taken a few hammerings, so they're going to be a bit cautious. We're delighted because it's three points and that's the main thing”, commented Fenlon.

In spite of their shaky start to the season, Bohs are now only three points off the top spot, and Fenlon is hopeful that they can push from here once they have a fully fit squad again, which is something he feels has affected his team in the opening part of the season.

“Well, we're just prodding along. Everyone says we're having a bad season, just keeping saying that! To be fair, we haven't been playing well, like we are capable of. We haven't had a settled team, which doesn't help. You know, every other team has been picking the same team every week. We haven't been able to do that, whether it be Setanta Cup, suspensions or injuries, that sort of thing”.

“It's a clean sheet which is an important part of it. We were solid again tonight. I'd like to get a settled team as such, without having to make more changes every week. Maybe to make one at a time. If we get a settled team it helps”.

One incident that did raise a few talking points after the game was an apparent war of words between Ken Oman and Jason McGuinness in The Gypsies defence. When asked about this, Fenlon stated that he doesn't mind too much if players have a bit of a row on the pitch, as long as it doesn't get out of control.

“Yeah, I don't mind them having a row with each other. Only thing is, Ken's on a yellow card, and there were a couple of lads sent off in Limerick the other day for fighting each other, so you have to be careful. I'm not getting in the way of the two of them that's for sure! Ah no, they're good lads. They care, and if you had someone who didn't care you'd be in a worse state. Just you have to be careful when someone's on a yellow card”, Fenlon added.
