TREATY UNITED

Treaty United will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on Friday night when they host Finn Harps (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Shannonsiders played out a scoreless draw with Cork City last weekend and were perhaps unlucky not to exit the game with a victory.

But they will be acutely aware that they must keep focused on the task at hand if they are to remain in contention for promotion this season

“It can change really quick because if we get beaten by Harps next week or even draw, then we’re three games without winning a game so it can change really quick,” boss Tommy Barrett told Sporting Limerick last weekend.

“It’s hard to get points in this league, it’s had to get wins on board so every game is a scrap for us.

“We don’t have resources to go out and get players. The lads we get are hard-working lads from other clubs who are trying to prove themselves

“They are hungry lads and they’re really making a name for themselves. That’s happened year on year and it’s probably going to happen again this year.”

FINN HARPS

Finn Harps will put their strong start to the campaign on the line on Friday evening when they visit the Markets Field.

But they will be keen to make amends after labouring to a draw against Kerry last weekend in Ballybofey.

Darren Murphy’s side enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, winning 3-2 away to Longford Town, before seeing off Athlone Town and Wexford.

But a defeat against Cobh Ramblers put a damper on the early season momentum at Finn Park before last weekend’s draw against the Kingdom.

Despite that, a positive result against Treaty on Friday night would do nicely ahead of two important home fixtures against UCD and Bray Wanderers next week.
