West Ham United has officially confirmed the signing of Mexican international, Edson Álvarez.

The 25-year-old midfielder inked a permanent deal until June 2028 for an undisclosed sum, amidst keen interest from other top European outfits.

Álvarez, recognized for his strong and versatile midfield presence, transitions to the Premier League from Ajax.

During his tenure with the Dutch club, he clinched two Eredivisie championships and recently celebrated a second CONCACAF Gold Cup victory with Mexico.

With 69 international caps under his belt, Álvarez brings a wealth of experience to West Ham.

“It’s a hugely sentimental moment for me in my career. Joining West Ham is a dream come true for me and my family. The Premier League is unparalleled, and I believe I'm well-suited for its challenges,”

David Moyes, West Ham’s manager, is equally enthusiastic about Álvarez joining the fold.

Moyes said, “We aimed to bolster our midfield, and Edson is the ideal addition. His impressive career, both at the club and international level, will be a tremendous asset.”

West Ham fans can expect to see Álvarez sporting the number 19 jersey.

Álvarez's journey began in Tlalnepantla de Baz, located in the suburbs of Mexico City.

Rising through Club América's ranks, he debuted in Liga MX shortly after turning 18.

His trajectory took a swift upward turn as he featured for Mexico in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and played pivotal roles in several of Club América's campaigns.

His move to Ajax in 2019 saw him become the first Mexican to score in his UEFA Champions League group-stage debut.
