West Ham United has announced the appointment of Rehanne Skinner as the new women’s first-team manager.

Skinner, 43, comes to the team with nearly two decades of experience in the women's game, including a successful tenure at Tottenham Hotspur and various coaching roles within the Football Association.

Skinner notably led Tottenham Hotspur to their highest-ever finish in the Women’s Super League, landing a fifth spot in the 2021/22 campaign.

She is set to join West Ham next month after concluding her media commitments at the Women's World Cup in Australia.

“I’m delighted to be joining West Ham United,” Skinner said in an interview with West Ham TV.

“There have been a lot of conversations between myself and senior figures at the Club around what the plans are moving forward, and I'm just really excited at the prospect of leading the team."

She further highlighted the club's established reputation and ambition, remarking, "There is a great sense of togetherness, along with serious long-term ambition at West Ham United. I think the challenge of delivering that is really exciting, and I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to work with the players and lead towards the vision that the Club has.”

The appointment is of particular note as Skinner is the first female manager since West Ham earned Women’s Super League status in 2018.

Baroness Brady, West Ham United Vice-Chair and director of the women’s team Board, voiced her enthusiasm, “I am delighted to be able to confirm the appointment of Rehanne Skinner as our new women’s team manager... Her vast experience, knowledge and proven track record in the women’s game is hugely impressive."

General Manager Aidan Boxall also expressed his excitement about working with Skinner.

He praised her experience and success, stating that "Her desire and determination to take this team forwards has been evident from the first time that I spoke with her."

Skinner's extensive experience includes her service as assistant manager at Arsenal, where she helped secure two Women's Super League titles and one FA Cup.

She also served as the Team Great Britain assistant coach, the assistant manager for the Wales women’s national team, and held various coaching roles at Leicester City.
