Premier League newcomers, Luton Town, have fortified their squad with the signing of Tahith Chong from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.

Chong, a 23-year-old Dutch midfielder, is the third new player to join the Hatters since their recent promotion to the top tier of English football.

Chong praised the club's familial atmosphere havig spent only a short time with the side.

“In the few hours that I’ve been here I already get the feeling that it really is a family club. It shows togetherness and unity, which is important when facing adversity,” he explained.

Luton Town’s manager, Rob Edwards, commended Chong's versatile skill set and work ethic. Edwards first encountered Chong when he was part of Manchester United's Under-23 squad.

“He gives us some real quality as well and with the ball, an end product," said Edwards.

"He’s at a good age and he’s going to keep improving...He’ll make mistakes, but I think he’ll thrive in our environment and we are excited to get him in the building.”

Chong's football career began in the Netherlands at Feyenoord's youth academy before he moved to Manchester United in 2016.

He made his Premier League debut with United in 2019. Chong spent the 2020/21 season on loan spells at German side Werder Bremen and Belgium's Club Brugge before joining Birmingham City.

During his time with Birmingham, he made 20 appearances in the Championship 2021/22 season and scored four goals with five assists in 38 games.

With his transfer to Luton, Chong is now set for a return to Premier League football.
