Dublin District Schoolboy League (DDSL), which caters for almost 40,000 boys and girls in the capital each season, has announced the appointment of Barry Ferguson as its first full-time Director of Football.

Barry Ferguson brings considerable experience to this role. He started his football career in the DDSL with Home Farm FC, moving on to play for various clubs in the UK before returning to Ireland with Longford Town, where he led as captain to secure both League and FAI Cup honours.

Unfortunately, his career was prematurely halted by a severe hip injury during his tenure at Shamrock Rovers.

Beyond his playing career, Ferguson is a UEFA A License holder with over 15 years of experience in Football Development.

Previously, he worked as a Regional Manager with the Football Association of Ireland, operating in the capital and actively participating in all levels of coaching and coach education for several years.

In his new role, Ferguson will report directly to the Club’s Board of Directors, serving as the strategic lead for all the League's football activities.

This includes Club Development, Coach Education, Player Pathways/Development, and the fostering of partnerships with various football entities.
