Galway preparing for Drogheda clash

Play-offs, they're all the rage at this time of year. Including the Irish squad, seven teams across the country are now diligently preparing for games that will decide how their efforts over the course of a long campaign are ultimately judged.

Galway United are one of them, for the time being if rumours of Derry City's demise are to be believed, but their manager Ian Foster is for now concentrating on preparing his eighth-placed side for a home clash with Drogheda United early next week.

"All we can do is prepare to play on Tuesday night at home to Drogheda United," Foster stated after Friday night's draw with Cork City. "If we’re told that Derry have been demoted then we’ll look at it then. But at the moment, as far as I know, we play here on Tuesday against Drogheda. If Derry have broken the rules, then I’m sure the FAI will hand out the punishment that’s required."

The uncertainty will hopefully be cleared up one way or the other after today's specially convened meeting of the FAI Board to discuss the situation at Derry City at their headquarters in Abbotstown, where an information update is due at 2.30pm. extratime.ie will bring you the latest news as we get it.
