Harkin extends Harps stay for 2020

Premier Division Finn Harps have confirmed that midfielder Gareth Harkin has re-signed for the club ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Harkin endured an injury-ravaged 2019 at Finn Park, and he is the first to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Co. Donegal outfit ahead of next season.

The former Coleraine midfielder joined Harps initially in 2011, before returning to the club ahead of the 2014 campaign where he has stayed since.

“We’re delighted to have Gareth back with us for next year,” manager Ollie Horgan told his club’s media team.

“He’s been a big part of the squad in our time in the Premier over the past few years and knows what it takes at this level.

“He had some bad luck last season with injuries but please God he can stay fit this time round and give it a good go.”

Harkin commits to another year with Harps, just days after, Horgan extended his spell as boss by a further two years.

However, there will be a rebuild of sorts required at Finn Park over the off-season – with Keith Cowan, Daniel O’Reilly and Mikey Place all leaving the club.
