Aodh Plus: Longford re-sign highly coveted Dervin and Elworthy ahead of the 2020 campaign

Longford Town have announced the re-signing of Shane Elworthy and Aodh Dervin ahead of the 2020 First Division season.

Elworthy was a key player for De Town in 2019 and his performances this season saw him named in the PFAI’s First Division Team of the Year, along with teammates Lee Steacy, Anto Breslin, Conor Kenna and Dean Byrne.

The former Fulham youth player is going into his third season with the Midlands club having also had spells with St Patrick’s Athletic and Drogheda United previously.

Manager Daire Doyle has also secured promising midfielder Dervin for next season after the youngster impressed once more for the Red and Black.

The 20 year old is one of the hottest prospects in the League of Ireland and the local star is already going into his fourth season as part of Longford’s first team.

De Town have been busy early in the off-season with the announcement that Sam Verdon has re-signed with the club this week along with the capture of James English from Shelbourne.
