Liverpool left it late at Dalymount Park on Monday night to overcome a young Bohemians side. Substitute Krisztian Nemeth broke the deadlock in the 90th minute, before Man of the Match Daniel Pacheco converted from the penalty spot in the fourth minute of additional time.

Tony O’Connor’s young Bohemians side were certainly not over-awed by the occasion, or intimidated by the 7,000 strong crowd. Liverpool certainly enjoyed the majority of possession, but were restricted in the main to long range efforts and set pieces in their efforts to get on the score sheet.

Pacheco nearly gave his side the lead as early as the first minute. The Spanish youngster, signed from Barcelona two summers ago, smacked the inside of Matt Gregg's right hand side upright with a shot from all of thirty yards.

Liverpool's early pressure continued when Gerado Bruno tested Gregg with a right footed effort after a quarter of an hour. Full back Stephen Irwin was next to try his luck, but the Scouser fired over from just inside the box after skipping past two challenges.

The flow of the second half was significantly obstructed by a raft of substitutions on both sides, but the visitors were still keen to get their noses ahead.

Bruna’s free kick just before the hour mark nearly caught Gregg out at his far post, with the ball landing on the roof of the net from a tight angle. Nemeth then announced his introduction with a probing run and shot just a few minutes after being introduced.

With Bohs legs tiring, Liverpool breached the home defence. Pacheco picked up possession on the left wing, before jinking inside his man and floating an angled ball deep into the box. Nemeth had pulled away and finished neatly with a minimum of fuss.

Pacheco then made it two nil from the penalty sort in the fourth minute of injury time after substitute Nicolai Kolbert was brought down in the box.
