World Cup winner Pedro & captain Azpilicueta named in Chelsea squad to face Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta and World Cup-winning striker Pedro are among the big names who will line out for Chelsea in the summer friendlies with Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic.

The Europa League champions arrived in Dublin on Saturday afternoon for a training camp and friendlies with the two Premier Division clubs next week with only a handful of senior players in tow.

Frank Lampard's first game in charge of the club where he spent 13 years as a player will be at Dalymount Park as Chelsea take on the Gypsies on Wednesday, July 10th.

Three days later, the Blues will make the short journey south of the Liffey to Inchicore, where they'll take on the Athletic at Richmond Park.

Lampard will be without a number of high-profile players, including Willian, who is part of the Brazil squad that will face Peru in Sunday’s Copa America final, and N’Golo Kanté.

England trio Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi miss out, but Danny Drinkwater will feature after being handed a Stamford Bridge lifeline by the new gaffer.

Tiemoue Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi are included following loan spells with AC Milan and Valencia respectively, while Kurt Zouma and Kenedy also feature after Premier League loan spells.

Wales star Ethan Ampadu, whose father Kwame hails from Dublin and played at under-21 level for Ireland, is included, as are promising youngsters Trevor Chalobah and Kelsey Palmer.
