Striker James Tilley returns to Brighton & Hove Albion as Cork City loan ends

Striker James Tilley has returned to parents club Brighton & Hove Albion as his loan deal with Cork City expires at the end of the month.

The 21-year-old made his final appearance for the Rebel Army in Friday’s 4-1 defeat to Derry City at Turner’s Cross, withdrawing just before the hour mark after picking up an injury.

Tilley made 28 appearances in total for City, 24 from the start, scoring once in the EA Sports Cup against Cobh Ramblers and twice in a Munster Senior League tie with Fermoy.

“Unfortunately [sic] the way it ended last night having to come off injured,” said Tilley on Twitter.

“Just want to say a big thankyou to everyone @CorkCityFC, all the players, staff and the fans for making me feel very welcome and my time enjoyable.

“Wish the club all the best for the future.”

Tilley came through the ranks with Brighton and made his senior debut in the final game of the 2014-15 season as a late substitute against Middlesbrough.
