Former Derry City midfielder Ronan Wilson swaps Institute for Cliftonville

Danske Bank Premier League side Cliftonville have unveiled the signing of former Derry City midfielder Ronan Wilson.

Wilson joins Cliftonville following a stint with fellow Irish League side Institute who have also seen former players join the Reds.

The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of Ronan Doherty who has joined his former manager Paddy McLaughlin at Solitude after his stint with the Stute.

A statement from cliftonvillefc.net reads; “Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Ronan Wilson.

“The 20-year-old midfielder is a currently a Sports Science student at the Ulster University’s Jordanstown campus and Manager Paddy McLaughlin is very happy to add him to his squad.”

Wilson joins Cliftonville who begin their Europa League qualifying campaign on June 27.  

Paddy McLaughlin’s side face the challenge of Welsh Premier League side Barry Town in the preliminary round.

The winners of that tie will face Norwegian side Haugesund while the winners of that tie will face Austrian side Sturm Graz.
