Goals galore as top two take three points - Danske Bank Premiership Round-up (January 27 2017)

Another round of fixtures has passed in the Danske Bank Premiership with both teams in the title race winning meaning it remains razor tight at the top of the table.

 

Two fixtures were played on Friday night producing sixteen goals. Firstly, at Mourneview Park, Glenavon and Warrenpoint played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

 

Andrew Doyle put the home side into the lead in the eighth minute of the game. Lorcan Forde equalised on the stroke of half time.

 

Conor McMenamin put Town into the lead in the fifty-seventh minute before Joel Cooper restored parity two minutes later. Stephen Murray made it 3-2 to the Lurgan men before Alan Davidson made it two in as many weeks to secure a share of the points.

 

It was a ten goal thriller at Ferney Park with former Derry City striker Ryan Curran putting his side in the lead before Sean Noble doubled the advantage for the Fermanagh men.

 



Cliftonville pulled one back through Jay Donnelly before League of Ireland veteran Stephen O’Flynn made it 3-1. Ryan Curran got his second of the game from the penalty spot.

 

Strikes from Jude Winchester and Joe Gormley twice made it 5-4 before a delightful chip from Jonathan Leddy four minutes into added time to give the bottom side a much needed win.

 

With Ballinamallard picking up three points Carrick Rangers needed a response as the travelled to league leaders Crusaders. They left Seaview with a 6-0 defeat as Jamie Glackin, Mark McCrystal, Billy Joe Burns, Paul Heatley, Matthew Snoddy and Jordan Forsythe scored for the home team.

 



Ballymena and Linfield played out a 2-2 draw at the Ballymena Showgrounds. David Healy’s men played the last twenty five minutes with ten men as Mark Haughey saw red.

 

Linfield took the lead through Mark Stafford before Jonathan McMurray made it 1-1. Andrew Waterworth put the Belfast men 2-1 up only for Joseph McKinney to equalise with fifteen minutes to go.

 

Dungannon picked three points at home to Ards thanks to an own goal from Reece Neale gifting the Tyrone side a 1-0 win.

 

Coleraine recorded a 2-0 win away at the Oval to keep hot on the heels of Glentoran. Eoin Bradley gave the Bannsiders the lead after a minute before a Ciaron Harkin penalty secured the win in the seventy sixth minute.
