Club captain Victor Ekanem among three more Cabo signings

Cabinteely have continued their recent signing spree with the news that Victor Ekanem, Andy McGovern and Adam Maher have committed their futures for 2017.

Club captain Ekanem has re-signed for a third consecutive year and is keen to make up for his injury ravaged campaign last season, having been awarded the club’s Player of the Year award in Cabo’s premier League of Ireland season in 2015.

“It was a no-brainer about signing back,” Ekanem told cabinteelyfc.ie.

“Not just the fact that I missed most of last season through injury but with the direction the club is going and the structures in place, it is exciting.

“I am extremely grateful to be a part of this club. I’m looking forward to getting going now and what will be a very competitive league this season.”

Both McGovern and Maher are academy graduates at the Stradbrook club, having progressed from the club’s under-19 set-up, and can now look forward to their second campaigns in the First Division with Pat Devlin’s men.

Upon autographing the dotted line, McGovern said: “I am delighted to have signed back with Cabo for the season ahead. Really looking forward to it and hopefully we can build on last season.”

Maher added: “I am very happy to have signed back with Cabo.

“I think this year with the new players coming in I think we will have a good season, we can be up in the top half of the league and challenging for a promotion spot.”

The signings won't end there as three more are expected to be announced tomorrow.
