Waterford add Rhodes and Sinnott to 2016 squad

Waterford United continue their preparation for th 2016 First Division campaign with the signing of Eoin Rhodes and Ian Sinnott.

 

Striker Rhodes joins from Wexford side New Ross Celtic having previously played at Bohemians, while Sinnott also hails from Wexford and joins from Shamrock Rovers.

 

Sinnott was most recently captain of the WIT side that won this season’s National All Ireland Futsal title.

 

Rhodes and Sinnott are the club’s 18th and 19th signings respectively ahead of the new season, with manager Roddy Collins already securing the services of Anthony McAlavey, Sean Byrne, Roddy Collins Jnr and Philly Gorman.

 

The Blues also signed a total of nine players previous in Aaron O'Connor, Shane Mackey, Dean Reidy, Robbie Buckley, Colum Nugent and Thomas Croke while former goalkeeper and Waterford native Kevin Burns also committed to the club, while Collins had also confirmed he is to bring in Jimmy Dermody and goalkeeper Corey Chambers.

 



This week’s signings follow last month’s triple haul of Darren Murphy, who suffered a serious injury last season against UCD, goalkeeper Robert Birdsall who will compete alongside Burns and Chambers for the number one spot, Dean Broaders and United’s under-19 Player of the Year Roy Butler.

 

The introduction of Rhodes and Sinnott coincides with Waterford United yesterday receiving confirmation of its licence from the Football Association of Ireland to compete in this season’s First Division subject to official signatures being registered before February 29th.
