Powell and O'Connor sign on for Longford

There was some good news for Longford as experienced players Conor Powell and Kevin O’Connor re-signed for the 2016 season.

Both were near ever-present for the Midlands with Conor Powell making twenty-nine league appearances having signed for the club after returning from his Norwegian adventure with Vard Haugesund. He also deputised as captain during a season in which Longford finished sixth in the Premier Division and also reached the semi-final of the FAI Cup before being defeated by Dundalk.

Midfielder Kevin O’Connor has popped up with the special goals for Longford this season, with long range strikes against St Pats and Sligo Rovers being followed up with a late winner in the incredible 3-2 win over Cork City in Turners Cross. He played a part in thirty-two league games this year and Longford fans will no doubt be happy to see him re-sign.

The news of these re-signings will be good to hear for fans of the club after Mark Salmon, Stephen Rice and Paul Hunt all confirmed that they wouldn’t be playing for the club next season.
