Kildare County have completed the signings of Coill Dubh duo Noel Byrne and Benny Langan. Both players will go straight into the squad to face Sporting Fingal at Station Road tonight (kick-off 19:30).

Both players arrive at Station Road having played major roles in Coill Dubh’s run to the quarter final of the LFA Junior Cup.

Langan (28) is a central defender, while Byrne plays on the right wing. Byrne, who will turn 23 at the start of April, won nine Irish underage caps on the same team as future internationals Aiden McGeady, Paul McShane, Joey O’Brien and Andy Keogh.

Byrne spent time on trial at West Brom and Sheffield Utd and has also featured for Kildare County’s under-21 team in the past. Speaking of his move, Byrne said: “It’s a big step up from what I’ve been used to but I’m feeling fit. Things went really well for us at Coill Dubh and we did well to reach the quarter final and I want to bring that into games for Kildare County.”

Looking ahead to Friday night's game, Langan was no less enthusiastic about making his debut for his new club. He said: “I can’t wait to be honest. I don’t know too much about Sporting’s players but I believe they are a very good team. I know some of the lads in the squad but there are others that I wouldn’t know to be honest with you.”
