Sligo Rovers Bring In Short Term Experience

Tim Clancy has signed for Sligo on loan from Shamrock Rovers until the end of the season.

Clancy arrived at Shamrock Rovers in February earlier this season after his contract expired at St. Johnstone at the end of the 2013/14 season. He previously played for Hibernian, Motherwell and Kilmarnock in the SPL, arriving there after a spell at non-league clubs Hornchurch and Fisher Athletic after being released by Millwall.

In his short time at Shamrock Rovers, Clancy only made his league debut in the 4-1 win over Derry City in June.  He played centre back during that match and in the next two against Bohemians and Galway United and he is a versatile defender as he has previously played in both fullback positions too.

Sligo Rovers have added to their defensive options in this transfer window as right back Patrick Nzuzi has also come in along with Clancy and the signings signal the end of the most unusual sight of Raffaele Cretaro at right back for the club, although he did play well there.

Sligo have also brought in midfielder Jason Hughes from Limerick and Cork City striker Rob Lehane, the latter on loan. The signings have offset the departures from the club of Heary signings Steven Beattie and Stephen Folan to Cork City as well as Eoin Wearen returning to Bohemians.
