Youths squad continues to take shape

The Youths have signed four players for the upcoming First Division campaign, with fullbacks Craig Comerford and Conor Whittle joining along with defender Lee Grace and forward Philip Drohan.

Conor Whittle joins the club from First Division rivals Waterford United, where he held down the right-back spot since his debut for the club in June 2013. Despite being only nineteen, he played in thirty-seven league games over the past two seasons, scoring four goals in the process.

Another former Waterford player joining the Youths is Philip Drohan. The winger played for Waterford in the 2013 First Division after joining mid-way through the season. He finished with three goals in fifteen appearances for that season and made a further seventeen appearances last year before leaving in July 2014.

Lee Grace joins Wexford from Waterford junior side Carrick United. The twenty year-old can slot in either as a central midfielder or centre back but he was used mainly as a centre back for the Irish Defence Forces squad, where he played alongside his new teammate Craig Wall, as they finished third in the CISM European Championships in November.

Wexford’s final signing Craig Comerford has joined from Carlow side Crettyard United FC, with whom he helped reach the fourth round of the Leinster Senior Cup, where they now face Crumlin United. The twenty-five year-old left-back also played for the Carlow Oscar Traynor Team.

These signings bring the Youths squad up to sixteen for the 2015 season ahead.
