Two 'Dream' signings for Limerick

Limerick have taken their first advantage of the link they have made with the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, bringing in highly rated goalkeeper Ali Abass and midfielder Prince Agyemang from the football academy.

Right to Dream was set up in 1999 by former Manchester United African Scout Tom Vernon. The academy has participated at the Nike Premier Cup each year since 2008, winning the African qualifying tournament on each occasion. Right to Dream’s best finish in the tournament is third, they compete against such world powerhouses and Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain in the Nike Premier Cup. The academy is ranked 15th in the world, ahead of West Ham United, Porto and Liverpool, it is also the top ranked academy that is not directly a senior professional club.

Ali Abass, is a promising goalkeeper, while Prince Agyemang is a midfielder who, according to transfermarkt.com is a left sided midfielder who is also adept in the middle of midfield. Abass has recently turned 19 while Agyemang turns 20 on Christmas Day.

Speaking on the move, Manager Stuart Taylor sees phenomenal talent, but that may not be on show straight away: “The boys are coming from a fantastic academy and background. They need time and patience from the club and supporters to settle in, not only to the club , but to life in Ireland. There is no pressure on them, we just want them to enjoy their football; they’re young lads with promising careers ahead of them both and we’re delighted to have them on board.”

Both players will be available for selection against Cork City on Monday night in the EA Sports cup, but after a long trip, via Nigeria and Istanbul, they are unlikely to feature though, as they will only train with their new teammates for the first time on Sunday.
