Keane signs 'multi-year' deal with LA Galaxy

REPUBLIC of Ireland captain Robbie Keane has been signed on a 'multi-year contract' extension by LA Galaxy.

Keane, Ireland's record goalscorer by some distance with 62 international goals in 131 caps, was in impressive form in 2013 for the MLS club, hitting 16 goals during the season.

Named as the FAI senior player of the year last Sunday night, Keane looks set to prolong his international career into the Euro 2016 campaign, although he was pardoned the trans-Atlantic trip for tonight's friendly with Serbia.

"I know 2013 was a bit disappointing but I feel that with the group that we have we certainly have a great chance and I certainly look forward to being a part of that," said Keane at the weekend.

The Dubliner has been on the MLS best XI for the last two seasons and has hit 34 goals in his 55 MLS appearances for Galaxy since signing in August 2011, helping the club coached by Bruce Arena to MLS Cup success in 2011 and 2012.
