Dunne signs six for Galway FC

Galway FC manager Tommy Dunne has completed a further six signings ahead of the club’s friendly with Sligo Rovers at Eamonn Deacy Park this coming Saturday.

Alan Murphy, Conor Gleeson, Marty Owens, Cian Fadden, Ronan Conlon and Jake Keegan all join up with the club as Dunne looks to finalise his squad in the next two weeks.

32-year-old Galway United legend Alan Murphy returns to City of the Tribes after a stint playing Gaelic football while 20-year-old goalkeeper Gleeson joins from Mervue United.

Defenders Owens and Fadden were snapped up from Sligo Rovers and Salthill Devon respectively along with Conlon who has risen through the ranks of the Galway club.

American striker Jake Keegan, 22, joins from FCA Darmstadt in Germany. Keegan had very successful spells with Binghamton University and Westchester Flames in the United States.

Manager Dunne is thrilled to have added the players to his squad but is looking to put the finishing touches to Galway’s squad sooner rather than later.

"I'm happy with the progress that has been made over the last few days," Dunne said.

"We are working hard in the background to finalise the squad, I would like to have 20 players signed by the 8th or 9th of February."

Master penalty taker Murphy is Galway United's second highest goal scorer and his valuable experience will no doubt help GFC as the season progresses. Fellow Mayo man Owens joins having spent the second-half of the 2013 season on loan at Finn Harps from Rovers.

Cian Fadden and Ronan Conlon, both 22, progressed through Salthill Devon's underage system and, despite their young age, made over 100 First Division appearances between them for the club last season.

Conor Gleeson, too, has experience having made 28 appearances form Mervue United in the First Division over the past three years.
