Wednesday brought a bit of good news for Shamrock Rovers fans with the re-signing of last year's captain Shane Robinson for the 2014 season. It has been a week in which Richie Ryan left to join Ottawa Fury in the North American Soccer League where he will have the opportunity to face the famous New York Cosmos franchise.

Mark Quigley also left the club after the second year of his Hoops contract was mutually torn up so he can seek new opportunities within the league after an unsuccessful spell at the Tallaght club.

Robinson is in his third spell with Rovers, having also been club captain during the opening season in Tallaght in 2009. He also had a spell at the club earlier in his career and he has now made over 200 appearances for the club. He also had spells at Drogheda United and FC Haka of Finland.

'Robbo' joins Barry Murphy in re-signing for the club and is joined by new recruits such as Luke Byrne, Ryan Brennan and Conor Kenna. The Hoops are once again expected to add to their squad for the 2014 season while also awaiting news on weather they will be entering a B team in the Airtricity League first division for 2014.
