FINNHARPS

Finn Harps come into this game against bottom side SD Galway hoping to record back-to-back home wins. However, the Donegal men will be wary of the threat posed by the Galway side who recorded their first home victory when the sides met in June.

Despite the position of SD Galway in the league, Finn Harps manager Peter Hutton thinks that previous game is indicative of the true standard of the club. “That was the final game before the break in which we lost in the final minutes of the game. Salthill had prior to then and even of late have recorded some good results and have added a few new faces to their ranks, so they will be a tough nut to crack. Salthill lost last week to Waterford but from what I’m lead to believe they were unfortunate and the game was finely balanced for a long period of time with Waterford enjoying a fair share of lady luck.”

Finn Harps were impressive last week away from home against table topping Athlone Town.  Despite a positive performance they lost 1-0 and this left the Finn Harps manager frustrated that his team did not get the result he felt the performance deserved.

“Ciaran Gallagher had little to do for the majority of the game and generally we looked assured and had a few good chances ourselves but again unfortunately we didn’t take them. The payers acquitted themselves well and were bitterly disappointed to get nothing for all their efforts, but it merely shows the fine line between winning and losing in the league .”

Harps will be without Michael Doherty who misses out through suspension, while Damien McNulty is still recovering from a foot injury.

SDGALWAY

SD Galway remain rooted to the bottom of the First Division,  to avoid finishing bottom the Galway men need to stay in touch with Cobh Ramblers who enjoy a six point gap in 7th position.

Another demoralising defeat at home to Waterford United last Sunday will give no assistance to the fragile confidence of the players.  SD Galway’s form on the road has been poor with seven loses out of their nine games.

The last time these two teams met at Finn Park, SD Galway suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.  Manager Tony Mannion will hoping that his team will be as competitive as their way on their last visit to Ballybofey.  They go into this game with six points from their last five games and sixteen in total from their twenty league games. It’s a record that this determined management team and players will be determined to improve upon.
