Three of the FAI’s national cup competitions have reached the final stages with a fourth at the semi final stage.

In the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup, Avondale United are just one game away from competing a historic three-in-a-row after reaching their fourth successive final. They won their semi-final 2-0 away to Leixlip United and will now face Bluebell United in the final in Dublin on the weekend of May 12th after they beat Phoenix in the other semi final.

Munster Senior League side Avondale United had an impressive run in the FAI Cup last year beating Kildrum Tigers and Sheriff YC before losing to Bohemians 1-0 at Dalymount. Their success in cup competitions has continued this season as apart from their progress in the Intermediate Cup, they achieved an impressive 4-2 victory over Premier Division side Limerick FC in the Munster Senior Cup.  This victory in February put them into the semi final of that competition.

In the FAI Umbro U17 Cup last year’s winners, St. Kevin’s Boys are also on the verge of retaining their trophy after again reaching the final. They beat Mervue United 1-0 to set up a final on May 5th against Cherry Orchard who won their semi-final away to Mayo league side Manulla.

Waterford & District Junior League will face Wexford Football League in the final of the FAI Youth Inter-League Cup on Sunday, April 28, in Ozier Park. Both teams won away from home in the semi-finals with Waterford defeating last year’s runners-up, Dublin & District Schoolboys League, 3-1 while Wexford beat Galway & District League 3-2.

The semi-finals of the FAI Youth Cup will take place on the weekend of April 21st with Edenderry facing Castleview and Castlebridge Celtic taking on Castlebar Celtic. The final is fixed for May 4 and the winner of the Edenderry / Castleview game will have home area advantage.
