Drumcondra FC were elected to the League of Ireland in 1928, having won the FAI Cup the previous season as a non-league club. They won the first of their five league titles in 1948 but at the end of the 1971/72 season they merged with Home Farm.
The Drumcondra name survived for one more season as the newly merged club played under the banner of Home Farm - Drumcondra, but by the start of the 1973/74 season the club appeared as, simply, Home Farm.
The identity of the club re-emerged in the shape of two Leinster Senior League sides, Drumcondra AFC and Drumcondra Athletic. These two clubs merged in 2008 and continue to compete in the LSL under the name Drumcondra FC.
Known as 'Drums', the club played their home games at Tolka Park and now play at Morton Stadium in Santry.
