Ground: The Etihad Stadium
Manchester City were founded in 1880 as St Marks, evolving from a cricket team of the same name. The became know as Ardwick AFC in 1887 and in 1892 they were elected to the second division of the Football League under that name. In 1894 they changed their name to Manchester City FC.
They won promotion to the old First Division in 1899 and won their first FA Cup in 1904, defeating Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Crystal Palace. They moved to maine Road in 1923 and won their first League title in 1937. In the summer of 2003 the club moved home to the City of Manchester Stadium which had been built to house the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
