Donal was born and bred in Dundalk and as such, is a massive Dundalk fan. He signed for Dundalk in 2005 under Jim Gannon and also played under John Gill, Sean Connor and Ian Foster before moving to Newry City, where he spent the 2010/2011 season. A career move to Slovakia led to him signing for Inter Bratislava and spending two seasons there.

He is now based in Dublin and works in the media intelligence industry. His hobbies are football, GAA, politics and writing and he loves nothing more than spending time with his son, Ben.
