Wesley’s Biography

Wes joined Shelbourne in 2001 from Belvedere and he made his Shels league debut against Longford Town in August of that year. Over the course of the next four-and-a-half seasons with the Tolka Park outfit, Wes won three League of Ireland titles as well as being named the Eircom League Young Player of the Year in the 2002/2003 season. Wesley ended his time in the League of Ireland in December 2005, when he signed for Livingston FC of Scotland.

Wes finished the 2005/06 season with sixteen league appearances for the Scottish Premier League before spending the next two seasons at Blackpool, the first on a season-long loan. He made nearly one hundred appearances for the club as they were promoted to the Championship in his first season there. In June 2008, Wes joined Norwich City.

Wes has played for the Canaries from League One to the Premiership with a few different seasons in the Championship as, ahead of the 2015/16 season, making over two hundred and fifty appearances for the club. Wes decided to leave Norwich after ten years following the culmination of the 2017/18 season.

Wes signed for Cambridge in July 2020 at the age of 38 after a spell in Australia.

Wes has previously been called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad and, ahead of the 2016 European Championship, has 31 caps and 2 goals to his name. He was included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship.

Wes retired from international duty on February 8th, 2018 following Ireland's failure to qualify for that summer's World Cup. He won 43 caps in total, scoring three times.
