Having played in the UK with Grimsby Town, Halifax Town, York City, Worksop Town and Halifax Town, Darren signed for Sligo Rovers at the start of the 2006 season and was their top scorer that season with seven league goals.

When Sean Connor became manager at Bohemians early in 2007, Darren was one of his first signings and he spent eighteen months at Dalymount Park, scoring five goals in 35 league appearances.

Having lost his place at Bohs he left in July 2008 and returned to England where he had spells at Leigh Genesis and Retford United. In January 2009 he came back to Ireland, signing again with Sean Connor who had just taken the managerial reins at Dundalk.

Darren played for just one season at Dundalk before going back to England once more, signing for non-league side Gainsborough Trinity.
